This Embassy is HORRIBLE.

A) To start, they sent us the WRONG version of Packet 3.

B) After the Embassy told us to schedule our interview, we contacted the Visa Customer Service phone number 10 times to schedule the interview but were constantly told that we were not authorized. After $80 of phone calls and waiting an ENTIRE MONTH, we finally received an interview date. A few days later, the embassy e-mailed us with an entirely different interview date! Absolutely horrible.

C) I scheduled a flight to El Salvador to be present at the interview, but the Embassy refused to let me enter for my fiancé's interview. They made me wait outside the Embassy for 4 hours while my fiancé waited in line inside the embassy. When my fiancé's interview started, the consulate told him to go get me so he could conduct a dual interview. The consular officer grilled me for 15 minutes about my fiancé, his family, his work, how many scars are on his body.... read complete review

Review Topic: K1 Visa

My wife went through the interview process at the embassy in May 2010 and overall she said was a comfortable experience. Their office was quite responsive (1 day response time on two separate occasions) to the following email address for us: Congensansal@state.gov. They responded to our emails and delivered both packet 3 and packet 4 via email.

The only roadbump we had was figuring out how to send the packet 3 materials via cargo expreso, as they mandate. Good luck trying to find their phone number or address using a phone book in El Salvador or anywhere on the Internet. My wife finally found by going to the embassy and there was a small sign there that had directions on how to find cargo expreso (sorry can't be of more help, as she doesn't remember the address).

Interviews went smooth. First one was just handing in the paperwork / medical exams from packet 4. 2nd interview scheduled one week later where they asked more detailed questions about ou... read complete review

My wife went through the K1 process through the Embassy in San Salvador, El Salvador. I would describe the process as difficult. There are always two interviews in El Salvador, about one week apart. The first interview is basically to submit the paperwork from package 4. This was done my a female Salvadorian national working at the US embassy, who basically screened the paperwork and give you a date and time for the second interview. According to wife this person was very rude and treated my wife like she was an idiot. Even though we were very well prepared and had all the paperwork listed in package 4. She Requested a I-864 from me and my co-sponser, to include tax returns for the current year, bank statements and the rest of of the supporting documents for the next interview in just 1 week!! Normally only a I-134 is needed so this is not normal for a K1 from everything I have and been told. This amounted a completely a unreasonable request. Even through Fedex/UPS/DHL it takes f... read complete review
